The Short Story: The Rams overcame an 18-point third quarter deficit to take a 68-66 lead over Saint Louis and led as late as 72-71 with 1:46 remaining. The Billikens made back-to-back 3-pointers to retake the lead 74-72 with 1:07 left and held off the Rams for the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Saint Louis started the game on a 9-2 run before the Rams made three straight field goals.
• The Rams responded with a 7-0 run where they shot 5-of-6 from the floor to eventually cut the deficit to just 20-18.
• After the teams traded buckets to start the second quarter, Saint Louis went on an 8-0 run over 1:37 to push the Billikens lead to 30-20 with 7:14 left in the frame.
• VCU trimmed the Billikens' lead to 39-31 on a Jailyn Maddox 3-pointer from the wing with 3:09 remaining before half.
• Saint Louis outscored VCU 8-3 to end the half and took a 48-33 lead into the break.
• The Billikens' lead got as big as 55-37 with 5:33 left in the third quarter before the Rams fought their way back into the game.
• VCU used a 14-6 run to cut the deficit to just 61-51 at the end of the third quarter.
• The VCU run eventually got as big as 22-6 as VCU took the lead for the first time in the game at 64-63 on a Pegram layup.
• After the two teams went back-and-forth, the Rams held a 72-68 lead until back-to-back 3-pointers from Jordyn Frantz put Saint Louis up for good 74-72 with 55.5 seconds left.
• Saint Louis' Jackie Kemph made three free throws in the final 14.9 seconds for the final margin.
