The short story: Atlantic 10 Conference points leader Molly Barcikowski and high-scoring teammate Sky Hyatt each notched goals, but it wasn't enough for the Rams Saturday in Norfolk.

- Old Dominion jumped out to a 4-0 advantage early, sparked by Connor Carson's three scores.
- The Lady Monarchs outshot the Rams 22-5 in the first half. ODU converted 12 of 22 shots in the opening period to take a 12-1 lead into the break.

- Hyatt, an Eldersburg, Maryland native, got the Rams on the board 5:36 into the contest with her 18th goal of the season off a feed from Megan Williamson. At the time, it trimmed Old Dominion's lead to 4-1.
- Barcikowski kept pace with Hyatt for the team lead in goals when she registered a score with 10:33 remaining.
- The Lady Monarchs were otherwise in control and outshot the Rams 31-12.
- ODU's Carson led all players with four goals.
- VCU's Kelly O'Brien scooped up five ground balls and caused three turnovers to lead the Rams defensively.
