The Short Story: VCU women's lacrosse traveled to Central Michigan on Sunday and were defeated by the Chippewas 6-5. Molly Barcikowski, Sky Hyatt, Mackenzie Galli and Clare Murphy each found the net for VCU.
OPENING TIP
- Hyatt, the reigning Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week, kept her streak alive, having scored a goal in every game this season. Hyatt is tied with Barcikowski for the team lead in goals this season.
- Barcikowski continued to be an offensive threat for the Black and Gold, scoring twice and assisting on three goals. The freshman is among the top-10 in the nation in assists.
- Ria Peralta started in the net for VCU, facing 19 shots and making five saves. After allowing four goals, Enfield settled in and shutout the Titans the rest of the way.
- Morgan Pergolini picked up a team high four groundball and caused three turnovers on defense.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Chippewas took an early 2-0 lead before goals from Hyatt and Barcikowski evened the score.
- Barcikowski's second score put the Rams on top 3-2 with 10:31 left in the first half.
- Central Michigan tied the game and added one more just before the break for 4-3 halftime advantage.
- The Chippewas added to their cushion early in the second half, but Murphy's goal cut the lead in half at 5-4.
- With just under nine minutes remaining Galli tied the game at 5-5 with her ninth goal of the season.
