HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Rams jumped out to a 5-0 lead after a layup from Robinson, a free throw from Sandra Skinner followed by a jumper.
- Up 11-8 with 58 seconds remaining in the quarter, VCU went on a 6-0 run sparked by a Thorpe layup and she capped it off with a 3-pointer with just four seconds left in the quarter. VCU held a 17-8 lead at the end of the first stanza.
- Coppin State cut VCU's lead to just 19-12 with 8:56 left in the second quarter but that was as close as the Eagles got for the remainder of the contest.
