Georgia rallies past Rams, 3-1, at Deacon Classic

Opening Volley
  • Redshirt freshman Indigo Thompson dished out 40+ assists for the fourth time this year, but the VCU volleyball team dropped a tough 3-1 decision to SEC foe Georgia on Saturday afternoon.
  • Freshman Sahbria McLetchie and sophomore Jane Feddersen combined for 23 kills in the contest for the Black & Gold.
  • In addition, Rebekah Strange and Tori Pearce combined for 23 digs.
Key Moments
  • After the two teams battled to a 13-13 tie in the first set, VCU won four of the next five points to take a lead it would never relinquish in the set.
  • The Rams would take the first set 25-22 thanks to 14 kills and a .419 hitting percentage.
  • UGA would answer with the first five points of the second set and pushed its lead to six, but VCU would be resilient once again, getting within two, but eventually dropping the set 25-21.
  • Set three was a battle for both squads, but UGA won three of the last four points of the set to take a 2-1 lead, 25-20.
  • The Bulldogs kept momentum on their side, jumping out to a nine-point lead and went on the clinch the win with a 25-18 set victory.
