The short story: Senior Julia Rienks carved up Davidson for the second time in a month, this time to the tune of 23 kills, to send the Rams to a convincing victory Tuesday night at Belk Arena.

OPENING VOLLEY
  • Davidson had no answer for Rienks. The 6-foot-2 opposite hit .500 on 36 attempts and was a consistent force from the first serve to the last, delivering seven kills in the first frame and eight each in the final two
  • Graduate setter Elif Ozsoy kept the VCU offense humming with 35 assists. She added three kills, four blocks and a pair of assists
  • Freshman Lannah Price and senior Kalina Pylinska kicked in seven kills each for the Black and Gold
  • Anna Withee led the Wildcats with six kills
THE DIFFERENCE
  • The Rams dominated the match from start to finish. Davidson hit just .040 on the night and failed to crack .100 in two of Tuesday's three sets. The Black and Gold hit .292 in the match
  • VCU also owned a 9-4 advantage in blocks, a 42-32 edge in digs and served up seven aces to Davidson's two
  • The Wildcats stormed to a 10-4 lead in the first set, but Rienks dialed up four kills to spearhead a 12-6 VCU push that paved the way for a 25-19 VCU win. The Rams never trailed in the second set, a 25-16 triumph
NOTABLE
  • Ozsoy recorded the 2,500th assist of her collegiate career in Tuesday's contest. The Ankara, Turkey native's career has also included stops at North Alabama (2022-24), as well as Trinity Valley College
  • Rienks has recorded 52 kills in two wins over Davidson this season. She is averaging 6.5 kills per set, while hitting .460, against the Wildcats this year
NEXT UP
VCU will head to the nation's capital to face George Washington on Friday, Oct. 31 and Saturday, Nov. 1. Friday's Halloween match-up is slated for a 6 p.m. start.
