THREE RAMS EARN ATLANTIC 10 CONFERENCE HONORS

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Three Rams were named in the Atlantic 10 end-of-season awards, with a pair of first-team All-Atlantic 10 selections in Patrick Steitz and Zachary Peters, and an All-Rookie honoree in Dawson Newman.

This year marks the first since 2003 in the CAA, that the Rams have had multiple pitchers named first-team All-Conference.

Patrick Steitz finished the season with a 1.02 WHIP, ranking 19th in the nation and leading the Atlantic 10. His 85 innings of work and impressive 2.96 ERA both sit atop the conference. In-season he was tabbed a National Pitcher of the Year Award Semifinalist and named Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week twice.

The 6-8 righty tossed in the Rams' lone combined shutout, a two-hitter, and has allowed one or fewer runs in eight of his 14 starts. Heading into the Atlantic 10 Championship, Steitz ranks among the top five in the Atlantic 10 at third in wins (7) and fewest runs allowed (28); fifth in opponent AVG (.219) and fewest walks allowed (19); sixth in strikeouts (74).

Peters opened the season with an A-10 Pitcher of the Week honor, setting the tone for his outstanding fourth season as a Ram. At the close of the regular season, the righty owns the fifth-lowest ERA in the nation among pitchers with 40.0+ innings pitched, while sitting among the top nine in the A-10 in both saves (6), tied for third, and wins (5), tied for ninth. His 78 strikeouts are fourth-most in the Atlantic 10 and the most by a Ram since 2024.

The North Haven, Conn., native paces VCU with 21 appearances on the season, 15 of them scoreless and six of them without allowing a hit. He also closed both of VCU's combined one-hitters and both 17-strikeout games.

Newman played a dynamic role on the pitching staff, serving as a reliable reliever in his 15 appearances out of the bullpen, while also making four starts, two of which were scoreless. He didn't allow an earned run in 13 of his 19 appearances and closed his first regular season campaign as a Ram leading all underclassmen with 39 strikeouts.

The southpaw posted an impressive 2.50 ERA in the regular season, paired with a 4-1 record and two saves, while holding opponents to a .214 batting average.
