RILEY WINS A-10 COACH OF THE YEAR

Virginia Beach, Va.- The Atlantic 10 Conference announced VCU head coach Jon Riley as the Indoor Track and Field Coach of the Year on Saturday.

Riley wins the award after navigating the women's program to their fourth conference championship in five years and the men's team to a third place finish in the event. The Rams received eight gold, six silver and seven bronze medals between the two programs. Redshirt junior thrower Desi Akaolisa also received Most Outstanding Field Performer honors.

Along with the illustrious day on the track, the men's program broke six program records throughout the season and the two teams combined for six weekly A-10 honors.

Over his 18 seasons as head coach, the women's team has won 11 A-10 championships and he has produced four All-American athletes. This is Riley's eighth time winning A-10 Coach of the Year.

After the successful indoor campaign, Riley and the Rams look forward to the Outdoor Track & Field season as they begin their run on Friday, March 20th with a split meet at the UCF Black & Gold Challenge and Richmond's Fred Hardy Invitational.
