RICHMOND, Va. – VCU freshman
Nyk Lewis (Washington, D.C.) has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference's Rookie of the Week, the league announced Monday. It's the fourth time this the 6-foot-1 guard has received the honor this season.
Lewis averaged 10.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists, while shooting 58 percent (7-of-12) from the field in a pair of VCU road wins last week.
The Washington, D.C. native registered his second career double-double with 11 points, 11 rebounds and four assists Wednesday in a win at La Salle. He added 10 points and four boards Saturday when the Black and Gold toppled Richmond 78-67 at the Robins Center.
Lewis is averaging 8.5 points and 4.0 rebounds for the Rams this season.
VCU and Lewis will return to action on Tuesday, Feb. 17 when they take on George Washington at 8 p.m. at the Stuart C. Siegel Center.
