WASHINGTON – VCU Baseball senior
Brandon Eike (Player) and sophomore
Brian Curley (Pitcher) both earned Atlantic 10 Weekly award honors following the Rams' perfect weekend at the First Pitch Invitational.
Â
Eike slashed .500/.533/1.214 over the weekend, while Curley earned the win in VCU's victory over Western Carolina behind 4.2 scoreless frames. Curley becomes the second Ram named A-10 Pitcher of the Week this season, joining graduate
Owen Tappy, who earned the honor for the week of Feb. 19. Eike's Player of the Week honor makes him the first Ram to get the nod since
Will Carlone earned the honor for the week of Feb. 21, 2023.
Â
Eike and Curley become the first pair of Rams to earn A-10 weekly honors since Carlone and then-freshman
Zachary Peters earned Player and Pitcher of the Week honors respectively for the week of Feb. 21, 2023.
Â
Over VCU's weekend in Greenville, S.C. the Rams knocked off Western Michigan, Western Carolina and the BIG 10's Michigan State. Eike smacked four doubles, hit two home runs and knocked in five runs over the three games. The Ram third basemen only struck out two times in 14 at bats and recorded four put outs and four assists without committing an error.
Â
In Curley's winning outing out the pen against Western Carolina, the Ram righthander struck out a career-high nine batters, giving up just three hits while allowing no earned runs over 4.2 innings of work.
