WASHINGTON – After sitting down No. 13 NC State in order over two innings, capping off VCU Baseball's first win of the season, graduate Owen Tappy was named the Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week to open the 2024 A-10 weekly awards.
 
Tappy, who earned his first career Division I save, tossed 2.0 innings, giving up zero hits, earned runs and walks. The Ram closer leaned his way to three strikeouts, facing the minimum batters over the two frames to finish VCU's 9-6 win in Raleigh, N.C. on Saturday.
 
The graduate transfer from Hampden-Sydney, becomes the first Ram to earn A-10 weekly honors this season, and he is the first Ram to get Pitcher of the Week since Mason Delane got the nod for the week of Mar. 20, 2023.
