BAMISILE NAMED ATLANTIC 10 PLAYER OF THE WEEK

RICHMOND, Va. – VCU's Joe Bamisile (Chesterfield, Va.) has been named Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

A 6-foot-4 graduate guard, Bamisile averaged 24.0 points and 10.0 rebounds in two VCU victories last week. Bamisile's 25-point, nine-rebound effort helped provide the Rams with one of their biggest victories to date, a 76-68 win over Colorado State Saturday in the Jack Jones Classic in Henderson, Nev. Bamisile also rang up a 23-point, 11-rebound double-double in a win over Penn on Dec. 9. Bamisile shot 44 percent (17-of-39) from the floor in those two games, including 6-of-16 from 3-point range.

With Bamisile's help, the Rams have won a season-high five straight games.  He's averaging a team-high 17.2 points, good for eighth in the A-10, and 5.7 rebounds per game.

VCU and Bamisile will return to action on Wednesday, Dec. 18 when they take on New Mexico at The Pit in Albuquerque, N.M. That contest will tip off at 9 p.m. (EST) and will stream on the Mountain West Network.
