The Short Story:  Sophomore Gudrun Hallgrímsdóttir set a VCU school record in the weight throw with a winning mark of 19.39 meters (63'-7.5"). In total, the Black and Gold women posted 13 personal records to cap off the indoor regular season on a high note in Lynchburg.

SPRINTS

• Junior Karah Moore enjoyed a dual PR weekend, setting new personal bests in the 200-meter run (24.97 seconds) and the 400-meter run (56.52)
• Junior Jailah Channer ran a personal record of 42.48 in the 300-meter dash, placing 15th overall
• Freshman teammates Naomi Clarke and Jordyn Evans both ran PRs in the 500-meter dash, breaking the tape in times of 1:16.06 and 1:16.40, respectively. Sophomore Sophie Heinold also PR'd in a time of 1:23.87
• Junior Lauryn Taylor competed in the fastest heat of the 200-meter run, going one lap in 24.63

HURDLES

• Senior Syvanna Metcalfe and graduate student Symone Foster competed in the 60-meter hurdle preliminaries, logging times of 8.67 and 8.72, respectively

 
DISTANCE

• One week after setting a school record in the 1000-meter run, redshirt freshman Lauren Tunnell ran the one-mile run in an impressive time of 4:53.76, the second-fastest time in VCU history
• Freshman Jayanna Carroll set two personal records on the weekend in the 800-meter run (2:21.93) and the 1000-meter run (3:05.96)
• Freshman Ava Miller ran her fastest 3000-meter run, traversing the 15 laps in a time of 10:39

 
JUMPS

• Freshman Chelsea Davis was the top Ram in the triple jump, placing sixth overall and landing in the pit at 11.86 meters (38'-11"). Sophomore Megan Bozarth set a new personal best mark of 11.28m in the event
• Freshman Selkis Elong made the final of the long jump in sixth place, and she went 5.73m (18'-9.75") on her best jump of the weekend
• Sophomore Nayome Shipp placed fifth overall in the high jump, clearing the bar at 1.63m (5'-4.25")

 
THROWS

• Hallgrímsdóttir's school record weight throw of 19.39m is also the best mark in the Atlantic 10 this season. The previous weight throw school record was 18.93m, set by Makayla McGowan in 2021
• Junior Eryn Byrd showed out in the shot put, placing fifth with a throw of 14.77m

The VCU women's track & field team looks ahead to the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track & Field Championship on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 25-26 at Mackal Fieldhouse in Kingston, R.I. VCU will go into the meet seeking to defend their Atlantic 10 championship from last indoor season. The first event begins at 9 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 25.
