LEGENDS CLASSIC BRACKET REVEALED; RAMS TO BATTLE ARIZONA STATE IN FIRST ROUND

RICHMOND, Va. – VCU will take on Arizona State in the opening round of the 2022 Legends Classic, presented by Old Trapper, Nov. 16 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., the tournament reveled Monday.
 
The Rams and Sun Devils will tip-off at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16 on ESPN+. It will be the first-ever meeting between the two programs. VCU will take on either Michigan or Pitt on Nov. 17 in a game that will be televised on ESPN2. The consolation contest will tip-off at 7 p.m., while the Championship Game is scheduled for 9 p.m.
 
VCU will be making its third appearance at the Legends Classic. The Rams are 2-2 all-time in the event after splitting a pair of games each in 2014 and 2018. VCU topped Temple in the opening round in 2018 before falling to St. John's 87-86 in overtime.
 
Led by sixth-year Head Coach Mike Rhoades, the Rams are coming off a 22-10 campaign in 2021-22 that included a postseason NIT appearance. VCU returns much of its rotation from last season, including All-Atlantic 10 Conference point guard Ace Baldwin Jr. (Baltimore, Md.), as well as six newcomers.
