The Short Story:Â The United States (VCU) led in the first half but a strong second half by Canada ended the U.S. run at the GLOBL JAM in the semifinals.

OPENING TIP:
- Taya Robinson scored a game-high 29 points on 9-of-19 shooting in her final outing with her VCU teammates. She also added four steals, four rebounds and three assists
- Timaya Lewis-Eutsey scored eight points along with two rebounds and one assist
- Samantha Robinson, Janika Griffith-Wallace and Keowa Walters each had six points. Walters also had four rebounds
- VCU's Sarah Te-Biasu scored 13 points, tied for the team high, and had two assists for Canada
- The U.S. shot 34 percent from the floor while Canada shot 43 percent. The U.S. shot 53 percent from 3-point range while limiting Canada to 23 percent

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The U.S. and Canada battled back-and-forth in the first quarter with Taya Robinson scoring 11 points and giving the U.S. a 22-19 lead after the quarter
- Taya Robinson scored another seven points in the second quarter, giving her 18 in the first half, but Canada took a 46-37 lead into halftime
- Canada came out strong in the third quarter while the U.S. dealt with foul trouble and outscored the U.S. 23-9 to lead 69-46
- The U.S. was unable to cut the deficit in the fourth quarter as Canada advanced to the GLOBL JAM championship game
