HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Janne Wetzel recorded the game's first shot attempt in the fifth minute as her shot off a penalty corner forced a save
- Each team recorded three shot attempts in the first quarter with Elliott making three saves. The teams remained tied at 0-0 heading into the second quarter
- The Rams allowed just one shot attempt in the second quarter and broke the deadlock in the 28th minute when Wetzel converted a penalty corner on assists from Svea and Maite Sturm
- VCU didn't record a shot in the third quarter but maintained their 1-0 lead after Elliott saves on both of the Tribe's shot attempts
- Maite Sturm nearly extended VCU's lead in the 50th minute after forcing a Tribe turnover but her shot across the face of the goal went wide left
