The Short Story: A strong start to the outdoor season was highlighted by event wins from Aliyah Newman and Makayla McGowan as the Rams came out firing in at the USF Bulls Invitational.
 
 
SPRINTS/HURDLES: 
 

• In the 400 Hurdles freshman Yasmine Silmon took home fifth place while Syvanna Metcalfe followed in eighth 
• In the 200m Lauryn Taylor raced to a time of 24.88
• Pierre Simone clocked in at 25.02 in the 200m 
• In the 100 Hurdles Metcalf (14.71)  and Courtney Higgins (14.83) finished in sixth and seventh place
• In the 100m freshman Lauryn Taylor took home second place with a time of 11.84

 
 
THROWS: 
 

• The Shot Put was owned by VCU as McGowan claimed victory in the shot put with a toss of 14.22m while Eryn Byrd finished second with a 13.47m throw
• Jocelyn Midkiff placed sixth in the shot put
• McGowan finished third in the Hammer Throw landing at 49.03m 
• Kayla Merkel landed a fourth place finish in the Javelin with a toss of 44.42m 
• McGowan and Midkiff finished fourth and fifth respectively in the Discus Throw

 
 
JUMPS: 
 

• Jessica Tucker leaped to a 5.51m mark in the Long Jump
• Dasia Mayo and Alacia Myles shared fourth place in the High Jump as they each posted marks of 1.58m 
• Newman leaped to a victory in the Triple Jump as she soared to an 11.95 finish
• Raquel Hawkins finished fourth in the Triple Jump

 
 
DISTANCE: 
 

• In the 1500 meter run Kasandra Aulenbach smashed her previous best with a 4:51.30 performance which earned her third place 

 
 
RELAYS: 
 

• in the 4x400 relay the VCU team of Nia McMillan, Yasmine Silmon, Karah Moore, and Syvanna Metcalfe earned a fourth place finish with their time of 3:54.73
