VCU Athletics held its annual VCU Women's Golf Classic to support the Rams' women's athletic programs on Oct. 4 at the Willow Oaks Country Club. The event was presented by Emerson Companies.
The VCU Women's Golf Classic, in its eighth year, has sold out each year and raised more than $200,000 for VCU women's sports programs since its inception. This year's event raised nearly $50,000 and was planned by Patty Wilkerson, the Chair of the Women's Golf Committee, and the other committee members that include Barbie Dunn, Darlene Emerson, Vicki Miller, Cristy O'Keefe, Sue Stella and Susan Walthall.
"This event is an incredible opportunity each year for VCU's women student-athletes to be with powerful, successful women of all ages who are supporting them in their journey through higher education, competition and attaining their dreams. We are women devoted to supporting these women student-athletes in all facets of their lives," said Wilkerson.
The event featured a day of golf and luncheon alongside VCU's women coaching staff members and benefits VCU's BoostHER program. The program aims to advance the women's athletics programs at VCU through student-athlete empowerment, fundraising, fan engagement, professional networking and community service. This event highlights the success of VCU's female student-athletes while giving them a chance to engage directly with the incredible women supporting their programs.
VCU Athletics and BoostHER would like to thank all participants, sponors and organizers for their generosity.
