HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The first quarter ended 0-0 after VCU didn't record a shot attempt and UMass' only two shots were saved back-to-back by Elliott
- The Rams opened the scoring just 14 seconds into the second quarter as Wetzel fired a shot off a penalty corner through the goalkeepers legs to give the Rams a 1-0 lead
- Maite Sturm and Litiana Field had a shot saved and blocked in the 24th minute as VCU held onto the 1-0 lead at halftime
- Williams made her defensive save in the 31st minute to keep the game scoreless
- VCU limited the Minutewomen to just three shots on goal in the second half and preserved the shutout
