Maite Sturm scored the game-winner against Providence.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Friars had the game's first chances but Elliott made back-to-back saves less than minutes into the contest to keep the game tied at 0-0
- Georgia Carr-Brown had VCU's first shot attempt and forced a save from Providence in the 13th minute
- The Rams broke the deadlock with 10 seconds left before halftime as Maite Sturm was able to control a loose ball, create an odd-man rush and beat the goalkeeper
- VCU didn't allow a shot on goal from the Friars in the third quarter to preserve its 1-0 lead heading into the final 15 minutes
- Providence's lone shot on goal in the second half came with an empty net and 28 seconds left but Elliott was able to make the save
