RICHMOND, Va. – VCU Women's Basketball head coach
Beth O'Boyle has announced the hiring of former women's basketball student-athlete Jessica Ogunnorin as a graduate assistant.
"I am so excited to welcome Jess back to VCU. Her enthusiasm is contagious amongst our student-athletes and she brings a wealth of knowledge, both as a former student-athlete and a professional basketball player. It's been an honor to coach her and now to have her as part of our staff," O'Boyle said.
Ogunnorin, a native of Greece and VCU alumna, spent the 2015-16 season with the Rams as a graduate transfer after playing at Stony Brook University. She started 27 games in her final season at VCU and played in 32 overall, averaging 5.7 points and 7.0 rebounds per contest. Her efforts helped lead VCU to a WNIT appearance. She will be pursuing her Master of Sport Leadership from VCU's Center for Sport Leadership.
Ogunnorin played for O'Boyle at both VCU and Stony Brook, earning America East All-Defensive and All-Academic honors for the Seawolves in 2014-15. Ogunnorin played professionally in Europe after graduation with stints in both Greece and Spain.
