Opening Volley
  • Freshmen Sahbria McLetchie and Julia Adler combined for 18 kills to lead the VCU volleyball team to its second consecutive win, sweeping a red-hot Hofstra team, 3-0. The Pride had won four straight entering the contest.
  • Redshirt freshman Indigo Thompson dished out 29 assists in the victory.
  • In addition, freshman Tori Baldwin had seven kills and seven blocks.
Key Moments
  • Neither team led by more than three points through the first 15 points of the first set, but the Rams grabbed three straight points to grab a 18-13 cushion.
  • The Pride cut the lead to two, but VCU won the five points of the set to claim the first point, 25-16.
  • Hofstra bounced back, grabbing momentum quickly in the second set with a 19-10 lead. However, redshirt junior Kaitlyn LaMantia sparked a run of seven straight points to lead the Rams back into the set and eventually win the point, 25-23.
  • The two teams would battle for the third set, but VCU went on to win eight of the set's final nine points to secure the match victory, 25-15.

  • "We came out and played with a sense of urgency tonight. The girls didn't back down. They stayed on the attack. We were down 10 points in the second set and Kaitlyn came in and got us going.
