The Short Story: The VCU Men's Track & Field team had a successful outing at the Fred Hardy Invite. The throwers highlighted the meet as they continued to post winning marks, and Matthew Earman won the 10,000-meter run.
Highlights:
- Brandon Ruffin continued to pace the throwers as he won the shot put event, winning with a throw of 16.07m. Ryan Coles finished 4th with a mark of 15.33m.
- Ruffin also won the discus with a throw of 50.26m with Cole finishing 4th at 46.13m. In the hammer throw, the throwers continued their success with Ruffin registered a third place finish with a mark of 51.06m. Coles (48.20m, 5th place) and Ben Melton (44.26m, 9th place) finished in the top-10 in the event.
- In the triple jump, Racheed Davis finished 3rd with a jump of 13.83m.
- In the 400-meter hurdles, Kyle Martin crossed the line at 54.11 to finish 2nd. Martin also finished in the top-5 in the 110-meter hurdle with a time of 15.03.
- Matthew Earman won the 10,000-meter run crossing the line at 32.22.02.
- In the 800-meter run, Mohamed Adam recorded a 4th place finish at 1:55.41.
- Austin Lushinski crossed the line at 9:12.04 in the 3,000-meter run to finish 6th.
- The 4x400-meter relay team (George Moore, Khalid Khamis, Kahlil Shepard, and Nicholas Buckingham) finished 2nd at 3:20.81.
Looking Ahead: The Rams will travel south to Florida this weekend to compete at the Florida Relays in Gainesville.
