Meet: 2015 Hokie Invitational – Blacksburg, Va. (Virginia Tech)
The Short Story: The VCU Men's Track and Field posted a solid outing at the 2015 Hokie Invitational over the week, with several top-15 finishes in a strong field of competitors.
How It Happened:
- In the 300m race, Tehquin Warrick recorded a time of 34.92 to place fifth
- Kyle Martin placed fourth in the 60m hurdles in a time of 8.13.
- Racheed Davis hit a mark of 14.15m, which is a personal best, in the men's triple jump to finish fifth. In the long jump he hit 6.57m to finish 18th.
- With a throw of 18.93m, Brandon Ruffin finished seventh in the weight throw. Ruffin also placed fifth in the shot put with a mark of 16.54m with teammate Ryan Coles placing sixth with a throw of 16.25m. Andrew Hines rounded out the top-10 in the shot put with mark of 15.72m.
- In the 200m race, Desmond Smallwood was the top VCU finisher at 22.78. Kareem Payne and Kyle Martin crossed the line close behind at 23.47 and 23.61, respectively.
- Matt Earman (16:09.60) and Austin Lushinski (16:37.86) finished 11th and 12th, respectively in the 5000m race.
- In the 4x400m relay, the Rams finished eighth with a time 3:23.32.
- Xavier Waller placed seventh in the long jump with a leap of 1.99m.
