Wilmington Saturday night at the Verizon Wireless Arena.
VCU has won five straight to improve to 9-16 overall and 7-2
in the Colonial Athletic Association. The Rams continued their
dominance in this series, recording their 11th straight
over the Seahawks. UNC Wilmington falls to 7-17 overall and 1-8 in
CAA action.
Clegg provided 10 kills in 15 swings for the Rams, who hit a
season-high .333 in the victory. Boyd hit .241 for the match, while
senior Mariel Frey
(Lititz, Pa.) blasted nine kills with 13 digs and two
blocks.
Sophomore Marisa Low
(Carlsbad, Calif.) was credited with 15 digs. Low dug 36
balls in six sets this weekend, an average of 6.0 per frame.
VCU held the Seahawks to a .126 hitting percentage and outdug
UNCW, 51-36.
The Rams were also particularly efficient on offense, with
freshman setters Ciara Brown
(Fort Myers, Fla.) and Bridget
Camacho (Cumming, Ga.)
combing for 47 assists on VCU's 50 kills.
Jennifer Mallard paced UNC Wilmington with nine kills. She hit
.318.
The Rams return to action on Friday, Oct. 29 when they head to
Boston, Mass. to face Northeastern in a pivotal CAA matchup at 7
p.m.
