Makini Thompson joins Finley's staff in 2011 after anoutstanding playing career at Florida State and Long Beach State,as well as on the international circuit.
During the 2010 season, Thompson served as a co-coach of Smash18, the top-ranked club team in New England. Smash won the GreatNor'Easter and Mizuno Winterfest Tournaments and represented NewEngland at the USAV Nationals in Reno.
In 2008, Thompson played professionally for Langenthal VBC inSwitzerland. She is also a member of the Jamaican Senior Nationalteam and competed in last year's Caribbean Championships inSuriname, where she helped the Jamaicans take fifth place.
A 6-0 outside hitter, Thompson enjoyed three superb seasons atFlorida State from 2005-2007. In 2006, she became the first FloridaState player to earn All-AVCA honors as a junior when she collectedan honorable mention nod.
Thompson recorded more than 1,200 kills during her three-yearstint with the Seminoles, the 21st player in schoolhistory to reach 1,000. For her efforts, Thompson collected a FirstTeam All-ACC award in 2006, as well as a Second Team All-ACCselection as a senior in 2007.
