Carolyn Riley enters her second season as VCU’s Director ofWomen’s Basketball Operations and third season overall in2011-12.  She joined the staff on a full-time basis last yearafter spending the 2009-10 campaign as the program’s GraduateAssistant.

Riley coordinates team travel, equipment and film exchange,while serving as the team’s academic liaison in addition tocamp planning and programming, marketing and community serviceinitiatives.

“It was great to have Carolyn on our staff in a full-timecapacity,” Cunningham said.  “She was outstandingfor our program in her role as Graduate Assistant as she pursuedher Master’s degree.  Carolyn is a diligent worker andbrings such positive energy with everything she does.  She wasa real asset in her expanded role with our program lastseason.”

“I am very excited for the opportunity to continue to be apart of the VCU Women’s Basketball family,” commentedRiley upon her promotion.  “After spending a year as theGraduate Assistant, I was able to experience first-hand the passionand hard work of everyone.  I feel very fortunate to continueto support such a great program, staff and team.”

Prior to joining the Rams, Riley played four years of collegiatebasketball with stops at Marymount University and Eastern MennoniteUniversity.  She averaged 9.7 points and 5.3 rebounds duringher freshman season at Marymount in 2005-06.  Riley thentransferred to EMU where she registered 15.7 points and 6.1 boardsper game as a sophomore, and contributed a league-best 16.4 pointsand 7.0 rebounds during her junior campaign.  She returned toMarymount as a senior and helped lead the Saints to the NCAATournament for the second time in her career.

For her accomplishments on the court, Riley earned First TeamAll-Old Dominion Athletic Conference honors as a sophomore andsecond team All-State accolades as a junior.

A Warrenton, Va., native, Riley received her undergraduatedegree in exercise science from Marymount in 2008 and recentlycompleted her Master’s degree at the VCU Center for SportLeadership.
