THE SHORT STORY
VCU women's soccer had an answer for each William & Mary goal in Williamsburg, Virginia, on Sunday, battling to a 2-2 draw. Underclass duo of Jess Gotshall and Monique McEnhimer accounted for the Rams' two tallies, with the latter netting the 67th-minute game-tying goal.

  • Gotshall scored her first goal as a Ram and McEnhimer added the second goal of her debut campaign
  • Alexis Cox and Isabelle Franklin recorded the assists
  • Cameryn Nunn made six saves, totaling 31 on the season

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • VCU created the first chance of the game in just the sixth minute as Gonzalez laid a shot on the W&M net, but Tribe goalkeeper Gwen Doughty made her first of six saves
  • Through the first 45 minutes of play, the teams remained knotted up with five combined shots on goal
  • The Tribe didn't waste time breaking the stalemate coming out of the halftime break, scoring the first goal of the game in the 48th minute off the boot of Leffler
  • The Rams broke through in the 56th minute as a centering pass to the top of the 18-yard box from Cox set Gotshall up the strike into the top left corner, tying the match at 1-1
  • In the 63rd minute, W&M retook the lead as Leffler notched her second goal of the game
  • The game-tying goal in the 67th minute came as Franklin found the crossbar and McEnhimer got a head on the rebound to sneak past Doughty in goal
  • VCU drew 2-2 with W&M
