THE SHORT STORY
VCU men's soccer fell in its Atlantic 10 home opener, dropping a 2-1 contest to Fordham on Saturday. Pedro Salmon scored VCU's lone goal off a corner, taking just 52 seconds to respond to a Fordham strike, but VCU was unable to erase the deficit.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Fordham opened the scoring with a wind-aided goal, looping it into the back corner of the net to take a 1-0 lead in the 17^th minute
• Separated by less than a minute, Fordham added to its lead, before VCU cut the deficit back to one in the 69^th minute on a header finish from Salmon off a Salmeron corner kick in the
• VCU didn't allow another Fordham shot and added three attempts of its own, but was unable to come up with the equalizer, falling 2-1
