VCU, WICHITA STATE FINALIZE HOME-AND-HOME SERIES

RICHMOND, Va. - VCU and Wichita State have agreed to a home-and-home series that will begin during the 2027-28 season at the Stuart C. Siegel Center. The Rams will return a game during the 2028-29 season at Charles Koch Arena in Wichita, Kansas. Dates for the games have not been finalized.

The Rams and Shockers, who last met during the 2019-20 season, do have some notable shared history. The all-time series currently sits at 3-3.

In 2011, VCU traveled to Wichita for an ESPN BracketBusters contest and captured a heart-pounding, 68-67 win on Joey Rodriguez's two free throws with 0.8 seconds remaining. That victory helped propel the Rams to an at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament – a run that reached the Final Four.

In 2012, the 12th-seeded Rams stunned the fifth-seeded Shockers 62-59 in an NCAA Tournament First Round match-up in Portland, Oregon. A late 3-pointer by Bradford Burgess, as well as a timely floater by Darius Theus, helped VCU triumph.

The Wichita State series adds intrigue to a couple of VCU's future schedules. During the 2027-28 season, in addition to the Shockers, the Rams will host NCAA Tournament qualifier Santa Clara to complete a home-and-home agreement. The Black and Gold have also signed on for a multi-game series against Memphis that begins on Nov. 7, 2026 at the FedEx Forum.
