THE SHORT STORY
Nationally ranked No. 2 Duke remained unbeaten on the season as VCU women's soccer fell 6-0 in Durham on Sunday afternoon. The Rams placed three shots on goal to the Blue Devils' two across the final 20 minutes, but were unable to get on the board.

  • Senior goalkeeper Mia Pongratz tied her career-high eight saves for the second-straight game, playing the first 45 minutes
  • Pongratz and Cameryn Nunn combined for 12 saves
  • Alexis Cox, Jazmin Jackson and Jensyn Lins recorded VCU's shots on goal
  • Duke outshot VCU 38-4 with 18 shots on goal to the Rams' three
  • The Blue Devils had six corners, while VCU had three

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Second-ranked Duke found the back of the net three times in the first seven minutes to take an early 3-0 lead
  • Despite trailing, Pongratz stood tall in goal, making six saves by the 25th minute
  • The Rams trailed Duke 5-0 going into the half after Natalie Chudowsky and Katie Shea Collins added another pair for the Blue Devils
  • Nunn made a save to open the half, but a Sofia Nuñez header snaked into the Rams' goal for the 6-0 score in the 66th minute of play
  • The Rams threatened with on-target shots late in the match, with their best chance coming on a corner in the 75th minute as Jazmin Jackson redirected an Alexis Cox header
  • VCU fell 6-0 to No. 2 Duke
