A match which began as a defensive battle between field players evolved into a concentrated Rams attack that was able to beat Delaware goalkeeper Sophia Hall just once. VCU placed a season-high 10 shots on goal, but fell 3-1 against the Blue Hens on Thursday.

- Jensyn Lins scored her fourth goal as a Ram with her first of the season
- Defenders Ishpreen Marwah and Cierra Collins logged assists on the goal, Collins for the first point of her career
- VCU outshot Delaware 18-13, and had the advantage in shots on goal 10-5
- Lins, Brianna Lawrence, Jess Gotshall and Isabelle Franklin had a pair of on-target shots apiece
- Hall made nine saves between the posts for the Blue Hens

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Outstanding defense from both teams in the first 14 minutes, with the Rams blocking the lone shot attempt in that time
- In the 24th minute, the Rams built up an attack, Monique McEnhimer placed the match's first shot on goal with a header that was saved by Hall
- Delaware took the lead in the 34th minute, heading the first goal of the match into the bottom left corner
- The Blue Hens extended their lead with a 61st minute goal, which the Rams answered 20 minutes later on a long pass from Collins and an exceptional redirect from Marwah to set up Lins' finish
- Delaware cemented its victory in the 87th minute, extending its lead to 3-1
