HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game One
  • Saint Joseph's belted a two-run home run in the first inning off the bat of Primrose and held VCU off the board into the fourth inning, maintaining its 2-0 lead
  • In the top of the fourth, VCU erased the deficit on a sacrifice fly from Maher and a single from Warden before taking the 3-2 lead on Petite's home run in the fifth
  • The teams traded runs over the next few frames, facing a pair of tied scores before Lethert's home run gave VCU a lead it would not relinquish in the seventh inning
  • In the ninth, the Rams added three more insurance runs to pull the game out of reach of Saint Joseph's short-lived rally, winning 9-6
Game Two
  • The Rams were first to knock in the second game, scoring a pair of runs in the fourth inning on two base hits from Maher and Warden
  • An error in the sixth inning was responsible for the only run of Holbert's day and VCU worked up a 4-1 lead in the next frame
  • Saint Joseph's four-run seventh inning manufactured its first lead of the game and the Hawks used an eighth-inning home run to cement the 6-4 final score, splitting the doubleheader
