LEADING OFF:

- The Rams' 10 runs brought their total over the past eight games to 99 runs on 81 hits
- Steitz earned his seventh win as a Ram with 6.0 innings of one-hit ball and six strikeouts

- Michael Petite tied Adelman's 21 HBPs from a season ago for sixth-most in single-season program history with his 21st of the season
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Rams jumped out to a commanding lead through the first three innings, getting on the board with a Nick Flores RBI double before combining for five hits to drive Flores, Warden and Maher across the plate in the second frame
- VCU put up its second crooked number in the third inning on a Lee leadoff home run, followed by a run-scoring double from Maher and a squeeze play from Adelman, taking a 7-0 lead
- Steitz carried the shutout through the sixth frame, yielding to Campbell for the final three innings of work
- In the bottom of the seventh, Kirkpatrick scored on a Wildcat throwing error and Adelman belted a two-run shot for the Rams' double-digit total
