FIVE RAMS EARN ALL-ATLANTIC 10 HONORS; KAHFIANI NAMED COACH OF THE YEAR

RICHMOND, Va. - VCU Women's Tennis saw five student-athletes receive Atlantic 10 Conference honors, the league announced Monday afternoon.

Sofia Jane Thorne, Tania Isabel Andrade Sabando and Mariam Ibrahim earned All-Atlantic 10 First Team honors, while Andrea Magallanes and Sara Alba were named to the All-Atlantic 10 Second Team. Thorne also earned a spot on the All-Academic Team.

Sofia Thorne played at Court 1 throughout the season for the Rams, posting a 13-8 singles record and a 15-6 doubles mark. The honor adds to an already strong resume for Thorne, who was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week twice this season, earned a spot on the 2026 Atlantic 10 Preseason All-Conference Team, and was a 2024-25 Atlantic 10 First Team selection. She was also named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week twice last season, while earning ITA Scholar-Athlete and Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll recognition.

Isabel Andrade finished the season 11-5 in singles and 9-5 in doubles. The first-team honor adds to a decorated career for the junior, who was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week this season and was also selected to the 2026 Atlantic 10 Preseason All-Conference Team. She previously earned 2024-25 Atlantic 10 First Team honors, 2023-24 Atlantic 10 Second Team honors, Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week recognition, multiple preseason all-conference selections, ITA Scholar-Athlete honors and Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll recognition. Andrade also held a 6-4, 4-0 lead against No. 52 Aspen Schuman of Duke in the NCAA Tournament before the match went unfinished.

Mariam Ibrahim put together another strong season for the Rams, finishing 11-8 in singles play and 10-7 in doubles. She delivered key clinching victories for the Rams during the season against Appalachian State and Richmond in the Atlantic 10 Tournament semifinals. Ibrahim's latest first-team selection continues a successful stretch of conference and academic recognition, including spots on the 2025 and 2026 Atlantic 10 Preseason All-Conference Teams, 2024-25 Atlantic 10 First Team honors, ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition and Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll accolades.

Andrea Magallanes earned second-team honors after posting an 11-5 singles record and a 15-6 doubles mark. She clinched the Atlantic 10 Championship final for the Rams after rallying back from a first-set loss and finished 8-3 in matches decided by a third set or tiebreaker, including two doubles matches. Magallanes also went undefeated in Atlantic 10 doubles play with an 8-0 record against conference opponents and earned Atlantic 10 Player of the Week honors once during the season.

Sara Alba also earned second-team recognition after finishing 7-10 in singles and 12-10 in doubles. Alba went undefeated in conference play in both singles and doubles, including a doubles victory over Fordham in the A-10 Championship final. Alba also earned ITA Scholar-Athlete and Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll recognition during the 2024-25 season.

Head coach Rifa Kahfiani earned Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year honors for the second consecutive season in her first two years as head coach after leading the Rams to back-to-back Atlantic 10 Championship titles and another NCAA Tournament appearance. Under Kahfiani's leadership this season, the Rams collected six all-conference honors and seven Atlantic 10 Player of the Week awards.
