- The Rams struck out just three times at the plate, while VCU arms tallied nine strikeouts
- On the mound, Dawson Newman was credited with his fourth win, allowing just one runner to reach safely and stranding two of his three inherited runners

- The Rams snapped a six-game skid with the win, tying Richmond in the A-10 standings
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- VCU took its first lead of the series in the first inning, as DeFranco belted his second leadoff double of the weekend and rounded the bases with the help of a Richmond error
- Another error-aided play, this time by VCU, allowed the Spiders to tie the game at 1-1 with their lone run in the third inning
- Warden led off the fourth inning with a double and a sacrifice bunt from Teige Lethert put the winning run just 90 feet away for Adelman's go-ahead RBI groundout
- Newman followed with back-to-back scoreless innings, before Peters took over with four shutout frames to close out the 2-1 win and avoid the sweep
