Despite hammering a pair of sixth-inning home runs off the bats of
Jacob Lee and
Nick Flores, the Rams were unable to overtake the Spiders at Pitt Field on Sunday, falling 8-4.

LEADING OFF:
- Jacob Lee broke into VCU's single-season home run top 10, tied at No. 9, for the second consecutive season with his 12th of the year, also taking sole possession of sixth all-time on the career home run leaderboard
- Nick Flores crossed the 100-career hit threshold in a 3-4 performance at the plate, belting a home run for his 100th hit and smacking his career single-season high 15th double
- Out of the bullpen, Nick Frers continued his dominance on the mound, allowing two hits, but facing the minimum in 2.2 innings of work
- Michael Petite, Teige Lethert and Trent Adelman all tallied multiple hits
- VCU tied its season high three double plays in the field, including one led by Adelman in right field
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Richmond worked its offense early with a leadoff home run and a three-run double to take a 4-0 lead through the first three innings
- The Rams got on the board in the sixth inning on three extra-base hits, including Lee's solo shot, a double from Alec Warden and a two-run home run by Flores
- UR answered in the home half of the inning with a grand slam to extend its lead to 8-3
- Frers held the Spiders' score through the eighth, while three back-to-back hits from Flores, Lethert and Adelman added one more run for the Rams
- VCU fell in the series with a final score of 8-4 on Saturday
