VCU baseball fell in the Atlantic 10 series finale against George Washington on Sunday afternoon, 9-3, as the Revolutionaries completed the weekend sweep of the Rams.

LEADING OFF:
  • VCU fell in its first Atlantic 10 series at The Diamond all season
  • Nick Frers faced just 14 batters and struck out four in 4.0 innings, allowing just two hits and no free passes, while one run was scored

  • Quinn Maher reached base three times on two walks and a hit by pitch
  • GW outhit VCU 12-5 in the contest
  • The Rams committed a pair of errors
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • George Washington strung together four scoring innings to open the game with an eight-run lead before the Rams scratched across their first run on an RBI single from Adelman in the fourth inning
  • Frers contained the Revolutionaries offense for three scoreless frames, allowing VCU to cut the deficit to 8-3 on a pair of run-scoring base hits from Adelman and Jacob Lee in the sixth and seventh innings
  • Taking advantage of a Rams' pitching change induced by a 20-minute delay, GW sent its final run home in the eighth inning, producing a 9-3 lead to down VCU on Sunday
