The Short Story: VCU Women's Tennis dominated on every court, sweeping the doubles point and adding three singles victories before play was halted to secure a 4-0 win over Saint Joseph's.

Opening Serve: 
  • Saint Joseph's entered with mixed results in Atlantic 10 play, falling to Duquesne, Davidson, Fordham, and George Washington, while earning wins over George Mason and St. Bonaventure. Inversely, VCU has gone undefeated within the conference, defeating George Washington, George Mason, Richmond, and Duquesne. This trend continued for the Rams, as they swept Saint Joseph's to remain a perfect 5-0 in Atlantic 10 play.
Doubles
  • VCU got ahead early and held firm in doubles, with all three courts jumping out to identical 3-1 leads, a theme that carried all throughout play. On Court 2, Andrea Magallanes and Sofia Jane Thorne were sharp from the start, pulling away for a convincing 6-1 win. Sara Alba and Viktoria Lackova followed on Court 3, securing a 6-3 victory to clinch the doubles point for the Rams. On Court 1, Tania Isabel Andrade Sabando and Mariam Ibrahim built on that same early momentum, leading 4-2 before the match went unfinished.
Singles
  • On Court 1, Sofia Jane Thorne was first to finish with a commanding 6-1, 6-0 win, putting VCU on the board in singles while earning her third consecutive victory and 11th of the season.
  • Tania Isabel Andrade Sabando followed on Court 2 with a 6-1, 6-1 win, staying on the front foot throughout and improving to 5-1 in her last six matches.
  • Sara Alba clinched the match on Court 6 with a 6-2, 6-1 victory, continuing an impressive stretch in which she has allowed just four total games across her last two matches.
  • Mariam Ibrahim was in control on Court 3, taking the first set 6-2 and leading 5-2 in the second, on the verge of closing out the match when play was halted.
