The Short Story:Â VCU dominated St. Bonaventure from the opening draw, scoring the game's first three goals and building an 11-1 lead with 5:12 left in the second quarter. The Rams cruised to their first Atlantic 10 win of the season.
OPENING DRAW:
- Amelia Eilbacher had two goals and one assist in addition to a team-high five draw controls
- Sam Palmer scored a team-high two goals and had a team-high five shot attempts
- Rachel Koeneke had one goal and a team-high three assists
- Molly O'Keefe and Annika Bennett each scored two goals on just three shot attempts
- VCU outshot St. Bonaventure 30-19 overall and 19-10 in shots on goal. The Rams held a 13-10 edge in draw controls
- The Bonnies were led by Brooke Piper who had three goals
HOW IT HAPPENED
- O'Keefe scored VCU's opening goal with 11:21 left in the first quarter and the Rams got out to a 3-0 lead with 7:13 left in the quarter
- The Bonnies scored one goal to make it 3-1 but the Rams scored eight unanswered to build an 11-1 lead after Bennett scored back-to-back goals with 5:12 left before halftime
- The Bonnies got no closer than a 12-5 deficit wiith 10:59 left in the fourth quarter as VCU cruised to the win
