Meet: VCU Rams Indoor Invite
Location: Virginia Beach, Va. (Virginia Beach Sportsplex)

The Short Story: Five Rams set personal records and two take home victories as various freshman debuted with strong performances. Junior thrower Desi Akaolisa set a personal-record and was victorious in the weight throw.

Sprints/Hurdles:

• Two Rams competed in the 60m hurdles finals. Freshman Aubree Harris debuted at 8.82 while sophomore Indira O'Neill set a PR at 8.90
• Senior Asia Powell set a PR in the 300m at 39.94, placing second in the event
• Junior Mabel Alagbe also set a PR in the 300m at 41.38

Distance:

• Freshman Leena Olibah was victorious in the 800m run
• Freshman Viktoria Higgins debuted in the mile and 3000m, pacing VCU in both events

Throws:

• Akaolisa set a personal-record 17.67m in her weight throw victory
• Freshman Melissa Casiraghi finished 2nd in the weight throw at 17.54m

Jumps:

• Freshman Taylah Walker debuted in the high jump, placing 2nd at 1.65m

VCU travels to Blacksburg, Va. for a two-day event at the Virginia Tech Invitational. Field events begin on Friday, Jan. 16 at 3:30 pm and track events at 4:00 pm
