The Short Story: Asia Powell dominated in various sprint events as the Rams turn in a productive meet at the Virginia Tech Invitational

Sprints/Hurdles

• Senior Asia Powell was victorious in the 60m dash with a final time of 7.48s
• Powell was also victorious in the 200m run as she posted a time of 24.28s
• Freshman Aubree Harris qualified for the finals in the 60m hurdles and set a new personal-record in the event
• Junior Jaliyah Person set a new PR in a 7th-place finish in the 300m run (39.83)

Jumps

• Senior Sydney Carr finished 5th in the triple jump at 12.02m
• Senior Mariah Washington added in a 6th-place performance in high jump

Throws

• Junior Desi Akaolisa continues her strong start to the season with a 18.57m throw in the weight throw, good for 3rd place in the meet
• Freshman Melissa Casiraghi added a 17.90m throw and 5th-place performance in the weight throw
• Senior Like Matalatala added a 15.15m weight throw and 13.28m shot put
• Akaolisa paced the Rams in shot put at 13.68m
