RYAN TERRILL JOINS VCU BASEBALL STAFF

RICHMOND, VA. – Ryan Terrill has joined the VCU baseball coaching staff as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator ahead of the Rams' 2026 campaign, Head Coach Sean Thompson announced Tuesday.

"My family and I are extremely thankful for the opportunity to join VCU. It's a tremendous university with athletic tradition in a really good baseball conference," Terrill said. "Coach Thompson and the staff are VCU guys and extremely passionate about developing championship people!"

As Thompson enters his second year at the helm of the program, he expressed enthusiasm about Terrill's addition following the departure of former assistant coach Chris O'Neill to the professional ranks.

"I'm extremely excited about Coach Terrill joining our program. He is an exceptional human that truly cares about the development of our student athletes, and he has a track record of recruiting and winning at a high level," Thompson said.

Terrill arrives at VCU after two successful seasons as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Georgia Gwinnett College. He helped lead the program to a combined 109-16 record with a pair of NAIA World Series semifinal appearances and two Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) Championship titles in back-to-back years as the NAIA's leading offense.

Over his two seasons, Terrill's Grizzlies earned a national No. 2 postseason ranking both years and compiled 10 NAIA All-American selections. The powerhouse offense also set a pair of NAIA records alongside 13 program records, while leading the nation in 11 statistical categories in consecutive seasons. He also coached the NAIA's 2024 Baseball Player of the Year and CAC Player of the Year, Blaze O'Saben.

Familiar with the Atlantic 10 landscape, Terrill served as recruiting coordinator at George Mason in 2022-23. The Patriots had a record-setting season, reaching their first NCAA Regional Final and securing the A-10 Conference title.

Terrill's collegiate resume also includes a stop at UMBC (2019-21). Prior to coaching collegiately, he served as head coach at Riverdale Baptist High School (2015-18) after spending time as an assistant coach under his father in 2006-14.

Terrill and the Rams open their season at home for the first time since 2011 on Friday, February 13, with the first of a four-game slate against Holy Cross.
