PITTSBURGH, Pa. – VCU Women's Basketball senior guard
Mary-Anna Asare was named to the All-Atlantic 10 Preseason First Team as announced by the conference Tuesday morning.
Asare, an All-Atlantic 10 Second Team selection last season, averaged a team-high 16.0 points per game for the Rams in 2024-25. Asare shot 37.3 percent from 3-point range. She also averaged 4.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists per contest. She ranked 73rd nationally in 3-point percentage despite drawing significant attention from opposing defenses as the Rams' only double-digit scorer last season. VCU was selected to finish seventh in the A-10 as voted on by the leagues coaches.
The Canadian international has improved every season at VCU. Asare led the team in scoring last season after ranking third on the team in scoring as a sophomore at 10.4 points per game and 7.1 points per game as a freshman. The Rams welcome 10 newcomers this season after last year's 12-19 campaign. Asare is the only starter returning alongside three other letter winners.Â
VCU opens its season at home on Nov. 5 against Maryland-Eastern Shore. Fans can purchase tickets for this season
