WASHINGTON, D.C. – VCU men's soccer goalkeeper
Trevor Maloney was tabbed Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Rams to an undefeated 2-0 week, taking down No. 2 Clemson, the league announced on Monday.
Â
After setting a career high in saves a week before against No. 15 High Point, the junior matched his three saves against the second-ranked team in the country to help the Rams secure one of the largest victories in program history.
Â
On Friday, Maloney set out for a career-high four saves at Penn, who was receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches poll, securing the first shutout of his career.
 Â
The keeper made seven saves in the Rams' undefeated week and posted an .875 save percentage.
Â
VCU will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 19 at Sports Backers Stadium as it opens Atlantic 10 play with Dayton.
