The Short Story:  VCU converted a penalty corner in the 8th minute

QUICK FACTS:
  • Morena Macera scored her team-high sixth goal of the season
  • Emily Föerster scored her first collegiate goal
  • Manuela Secondo provided an assist
  • Angelina Gandos and Lina Berhmann each recorded one assist
  • VCU outshot Georgetown 6-5 overall but the Hoyas led 3-2 in shots on goal. The Hoyas led 8-4 in penalty corners
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • VCU opened the scoring in the 8th minute as Macera converted a penalty corner off an insert from Berhmann and a stick stop from Gandos
  • The Rams held a 1-0 lead at halftime after the second quarter only saw one shot attempt from either team
  • VCU extended its lead to 2-0 in the 31st minute as Secondo's pass into the shooting circle was collected by Föerster who was able to turn a defender and score
  • The Rams allowed just one shot attempt in the fourth quarter as they held on for the win
