VCU women's soccer opened its 2025 campaign with a hard-fought, 1-1 draw against Elon at Sports Backers on Thursday.
Vivian Vendt's equalizer found the back of the net and
Mia Pongratz' save in the 89
th minute upheld the decision as Lauryn Hutchinson debuted as head coach of her alma mater.

- Connolly got the offense started in the 14th minute with the first shot of the match, inducing a save
- The Phoenix was limited to just a pair of shots in the first period, but Isa Murdock got the visitors on the board in the 34th minute
- Lins lifted a ball-in just high of the crossbar in the 74th minute as VCU still looked for its equalizer
- Evening the score, Vendt scored the first goal of the Rams' 2025 campaign in the 77th minute, sneaking one in to the top left corner past Elon keeper Katie Bisgrove
- Securing the draw, Pongratz made a save in the 89th minute to close out the 1-1 game
