THE SHORT STORY: VCU once again struck early, scratching three runs across in the first two frames, but Davidson had a loud answer to take the opening game of the Atlantic 10 series, 17-4.

LEADING OFF:
- Jacob Lee extended his reached-base streak to an impressive 11 games with a single his first time up, his second leadoff hit in as many games
- Lee had his team-leading ninth multi-hit game and belted his sixth home run
- Seth Werchan tallied the Rams' other hit, tying his own season-high on-base streak at nine games
- Sean Swenson tied VCU's most single-game walks with three in the contest
- Drew Ramos closed the game on the mound for the Rams, going 2.0 scoreless innings and allowing just a hit while striking out a season-high three batters

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Rams struck early again, working up a 3-0 lead in their first two offensive frames on a Nick Flores sacrifice fly, an RBI groundout from Trent Adelman and a Wildcat error that scored Casey Kleinman
- Davidson scored 17 of its runs over four scoring innings, putting up eight in the bottom of the second and adding six in the seventh to wrap up its scoring
- VCU got one run back in the eighth frame on a solo shot from Lee, but the scoring ended there for both teams
- Ramos limited the damage on the hill with two scoreless innings to close out the game, but the Wildcats took game one by a score of 17-4 to advance to 3-1 in Atlantic 10 play
