Molly Metz scored with 13:13 left before halftime. The Rams were unable to sustain the lead as the Tribe to scored nine unanswered goals to take control of the game.

- The Tribe scored the first two goals to lead 2-0 with 11:42 left in the first quarter
- The Rams answered by scored six of the next seven goals, including two from Koeneke to build a 6-3 advantage with 13:13 left in the second quarter
- VCU's offense struggled as the Tribe reeled off nine unanswered goals across halftime to lead 12-6 with 11:14 left in the third quarter
- VCU got within 12-8 with 8:07 left in the third quarter but that would be as close as the Rams would come for the remainder of the contest
