THE SHORT STORY: Despite a strong start early, and three RBI from freshman catcher
Jacob Lee, Longwood plated four late runs to overtake the Rams on the road.

LEADING OFF:
- Freshman duo Jacob Lee and Nick Flores extended their hitting streaks to four games
- Lee drove in all three of the Rams' runs and collected his second two-hit game
- Freshman Nick April-Gath had his first two-hit game
- James McGrady tossed two scoreless frames, allowing just one hit
- Broden Palmer made his VCU debut, notching four strikeouts and going two scoreless innings before surrendering one run
- Longwood secured the first victory of first-year head coach Ray Noe's career

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Flores reached base to lead off the game by a fielding error at third base and Lee doubled him in to get the Rams on the board in the opening frame
- Longwood plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the second
- VCU answered with a pair of runs of their own on a Lee two-run single
- McGrady and Palmer combined for four scoreless innings to hold off the host through six
- In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Lancers evened the score on a throwing error and then added three runs in the home-half of the eighth for the 6-3 final
